Overnight storms cause destruction in Cook County near Western Suburbs CHICAGO — Overnight storms swept through the Chicagoland area overnight leaving uprooted trees and flooding.A tree and utility pole landed on top of a car in Cicero during a thunderstorm warning overnight. The owner of the car reportedly slept through the storm and did not hear a crash. It was only when he stepped outside did he see the car's condition. The storm came through Cicero around about 2:00 a.m. where large trees crashed onto cars and homes. Cicero firefighters climbed onto ladders to help some residents remove debris from their homes. What you need to know about the 2023 Chicago Pride Parade Utility poles have been toppled over and tree branches have been scattered across streets. Heavy rain also caused flooding in some places. Man dies in overnight crash in Sunnyvale, DUI suspected (KRON) -- A man died after his vehicle was engulfed in flames after a crash overnight on Sunday, the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety said. PHOTOS: Suspected DUI driver careens over Santa Cruz cliff Around 2:25 a.m., DPS and fire personnel were called to the scene of a vehicle that had crashed into a building. As emergency responders arrived, they saw that the vehicle was fully engulfed in flames, and an unresponsive driver and two passengers were trapped inside. Emergency personnel attempted to extricate the male driver, but due to fire conditions, they were unsuccessful. He was declared dead at the scene. Two passengers, a man and a woman, were found at the scene with "major injuries," DPS said. Both passengers were taken to a local hospital for treatment. Initial information on the crash shows that the vehicle was heading west on Old San Francisco Road when it collided with a building. The passengers who survived the crash are cooperating with the investigation, DPS said....
